THE DAWN (2019) Movie Recap | The Haunting Of A Nun After War

THE DAWN (2019) is one of the most disturbing nun horror movies you will ever see.

Imagine surviving the hell of World War I, losing your family, losing everything. You think joining a convent will give you peace. You think God will protect you.

You are wrong.

This is the story of Aurora. After the war, she has nowhere to go. She joins a remote convent in the middle of nowhere. The sisters welcome her. The place is cold, silent, and always dark. At first, it feels safe.

But at night, things change.

Aurora hears whispers in the empty hallways. She sees footprints where no one walked. She wakes up and finds a dark figure praying alone in the chapel at 3 AM. When she gets closer, the figure disappears.

Is she losing her mind because of the trauma of war? Or is something evil living inside the convent?

The Mother Superior tells her to pray more. But the more Aurora prays, the worse it gets. The other nuns start to act strangely. Their eyes turn black. They smile when someone screams.

Aurora discovers a hidden diary. The convent was built on a cursed ground. Many years ago, something inhuman was brought there. It feeds on guilt, on pain, on the sins of soldiers who survived.

And it has chosen Aurora.

*ENDING EXPLAINED (Spoiler Warning):*

In the final night, Aurora must face the entity. She realizes the demon does not want to kill her. It wants to live inside her. It wants her trauma.

The last scene is the most terrifying. Aurora is back in the chapel, praying just like in the poster. Her hands are together. Her face is pale. She looks peaceful.

But when she opens her eyes, they are not her eyes anymore. The Dawn has taken her. The convent will have a new sister... forever.
